The Friends of Chamber Music announces 35th Anniversary Season
The Friends of Chamber Music is pleased to announce its 35th Anniversary season. With its theme of "Where the intimate voice becomes the conversation..." The Friends is celebrating with grand style, supplemental programming and stellar programming from some of the biggest artists in the industry.

The 2010-2011 season is as follows:
INTERNATIONAL CHAMBER MUSIC SERIES
Kopelman Quartet - November 6, 2010 - 8 p.m.
Representing the end of the legendary school of Russian musical style, this celebrated quartet returns to infuse their technique into masterworks from their homeland.
Pinchas Zukerman, violin/viola with Yefim Bronfman, piano - November 19, 2010 - 8p.m.
Two musical titans unite! Together for the first time, Zukerman and Bronfman-internationally acclaimed soloists in their own right-blend their unique styles for the likes of Mozart, Beethoven, and Brahms.
Parker Quartet - January 22, 2011 - White Recital Hall - UMKC - 7:30 p.m.
The most recent winners of the Cleveland Quartet award this young rising quartet will launch a new partnership series with the UMKC Conservatory of Music and Dance
Akademie fur Alte Musik Berlin - March 11, 2011 - 8 p.m.
One of the greatest Baroque orchestras in the world today returns to The Friends to give an unforgettable concert.
Acis and Galatea by G.F. Handel
Produced by the Boston Early Music Festival - April 1, 2011 - 8 p.m.
The original 1718 chamber version of the beloved Baroque opera, considered to be Handel's most famous. With Musical Directors Paul O'Dette and Stephen Stubbs this production will be a first in Kansas City for The Friends.
MASTER PIANISTS SERIES
Vladimir Feltsman - October 1, 2010 - 8 p.m.
What better way to kick off our blockbuster season than with a legendary giant of the keyboard? This acclaimed Russian pianist returns with a thrilling program which includes the masterwork, Liszt Sonata in B minor, in celebration for the 2011 200th anniversary year of Liszt's birth.
Ivan Moravec - October 16, 2010 - 8 p.m.
First introduced to Kansas City by The Friends nearly 20 years ago, Moravec performs as part of his farewell tour. Moravec is considered by many to be one of the great pianists of the 20th century.
Radu Lupu - January 29, 2011 - 8 p.m.
Renowned for the infinite depth of his playing, Lupu returns to the series playing Schubert, one of the composers for which he is most famous. Lupu's interpretation of Schubert's Sonata in B minor will leave you breathless.
Rafal Blechaz - February 18, 2011 - 8 p.m.
The most recent winner of the International Chopin Competition in Warsaw, makes his Friends debut continuing the year-long celebration of the works of Chopin.
Garrick Ohlsson - March 19, 2011 - 8 p.m.
Ohlsson returns to the Friends for another exhilarating musical experience. The first American to win the International Chopin competition, Ohlsson closes the series with more from this celebrated composer.
EARLY MUSIC SERIES
Sequentia - Benjamin Bagby -Voices from the Island Sanctuary: Ecclesiastical Singers in Paris (1180-1230)- January 21, 2011 - Grace and Holy Trinity Cathedral - 8 p.m.
A master in the genre of Medieval Music Bagby returns to The Friends with his ensemble to perform works originally performed in the Cathedral of Notre Dame.
Chanticleer - February 5, 2011 - Community of Christ Temple - Independence, MO - 8 p.m.
Famous in their own right this dynamic male ensemble returns to Kansas City for a program of mediaeval music. Their precise harmonies will offer a first-hand look at how they became one of the most known ensembles performing today.
Trio Mediaeval - March 26, 2011 - Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception - 8 p.m.
The Scandinavian sensation returns to Kansas City with another concert repertoire that exhibits their impressive musical talent and superb scholarship. Know for their distinct sound that spans mediaeval music, Norwegian ballads and songs, as well as contemporary composers trio mediaeval will close this series leaving you wanting more.
