Simon Carrington Chamber Singers: Due Dec. 31; Lawrence Arts Center Theater: Jan. 4–5

Simon Carrington Chamber Singers announces roster auditions

Now accepting materials for 2011 concerts and recordings. Singers must be available to travel to Kansas City, Missouri and to attend all morning, afternoon and evening rehearsals, concerts and recording sessions from June 6–11,  2011. Please submit all materials via email to amywaldron@simoncarringtonchambersingers.com

Please attach the following files to the email:

  • A current professional resume [in msword document format].
  • A demonstration of your vocal range with ascending and descending scales as appropriate and at a gentle mezzo forte [as an .mp3 file].
  • .mp3 files of two pieces which you feel demonstrate the special qualities of your voice.  One of these should be from the Renaissance or Baroque period and be sung with minimum vibrato as you see fit.
  • Your current contact information, including name, address, phone number and email address.
  • Please also request of a conductor or teacher of suitable standing with whom you have worked, a letter of recommendation which makes clear the standard of your sight reading ability. Request that this recommendation be sent by email to amywaldron@simoncarringtonchambersingers.com with: "Recommendation for [Your Name]" in the subject line. In your own email, provide this person's name, position and affiliate institution, email and phone contact information.

All materials must be received by midnight on December  31, 2010 to be considered.

 

Lawrence Arts Center Theater announces auditions for roles in Dead Man's Cell Phone

The Lawrence Arts Center Theater will hold auditions and callbacks on January 4th and 5th between the hours of 7 PM and 10 PM for a February 4th–19th production of DEAD MAN’S CELL PHONE a comedy by Sarah Ruhl.

Auditionees should have a monologue of under 2 minutes prepared.  Sides for the roles are available for check out from the Lawrence Arts Center, 940 New Hampshire, Lawrence, Kansas 66046. The full play is available through Amazon or Samuel French

There will be 1–3 Guest Equity Artist positions available.

The roles being cast include:

  • A woman, Jean, age 25 – 45
  • A dead man, Gordon, age irrelevant
  • Gordon’s Mother, Mrs. Gottlieb, age 50 – 70
  • Gordon’s widow, Hermia, age 25 – 50
  • Gordon’s brother, Dwight, age 30 – 55
  • The Other Woman/Stranger, with an accent, age 25 – 45

Auditionees should sign up for an audition time of 7 PM or 8 PM on January 4th or 7 PM on January 5th.  Callbacks will occur at 9 PM on January 4th and 8 PM on January 5th.  Additional callbacks may be called.

Rehearsals will be 20 hours per week, generally evenings and weekends, for four weeks beginning Monday, January 10th.  The show may extend and perform at the Fishtank in Kansas City on February 18th and 19th.
