All of the talk about the new Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts can unfortunately draw attention to the limitations of the Lyric Theatre, but at opening night of Donizetti’s "The Daughter of the Regiment," there was a buzz about the house. The audience of 1,200 enjoyed how General Director Evan Luskin fed the fire with details about the new venue, setting the stage for the evening, as well as the season to come.

A who's-who of musical theatre veterans are coming out in support of local performer Karen Errington's battle against cancer. The benefit concert will be Friday, February 25 at the American Heartland Theatre (previously scheduled to be held at Off Center Theatre).

The KC Fringe Festival will present a Mardi Gras fundraiser with a Venetian theme, live entertainment and a costume contest on Saturday, March 5 from 7 p.m. - 1 a.m. at KC Fringe Central. Proceeds from the fundraiser will help to provide better lighting and sound at venues and offset promotional costs.
