Jewish Family Services’ “Boogie to Broadway” (Feb. 27 and 28)

Vocal Auditions Set for “Boogie to Broadway”

Jewish Family Services’ “Boogie to Broadway” event, to be held on Sunday, June 5, 2011, is a fun-filled sing-off of every kind of music from pop hits to Broadway classics. If you are eight to 88 years old and you love to sing, then JFS wants you to become a part of the third annual clash of three intergenerational and interfaith choirs! Open vocal auditions for the three choirs will take place at the Jewish Community Campus on Sunday, Feb. 27 from 3 - 7 p.m. (in the Board Room) and Monday, Feb. 28 from 6-8:30 p.m. (in Conference Room A). The Campus is located at 5801 W. 115th St., in Overland Park, Kansas. Those auditioning need to come to only one session. Please call ahead to schedule an audition time. Walk-ins are welcome, but on a first come-first audition basis as audition slots are available.

Here’s what you need to do in order to audition:

Please contact Adrienne Kizer at 913-327-8257 or akizer@jfskc.org to sign up for an audition.

Please arrive at least 15 minutes early in order to fill out paperwork.

Be prepared to sing 16 bars of a song of your choice. You may sing a cappella or bring legible piano-vocal sheet music in the correct key. An accompanist will be provided.

Those auditioning must be able to commit to 15 hours of practice between April and June, and must be available the day of June 5, 2011, for dress rehearsal and the performance. Those auditioning who are 17 and under must have a signed parental permission form provided by JFS the day of the audition.

Raise your voice in song! Raise your voice for our community! Raise your voice for JFS- the agency that helps all of us in facing life’s daily challenges. If you are interested in auditioning for or helping with the “Boogie to Broadway” event, please contact Kizer at (913) 327-8257 or akizer@jfskc.org.
