 Fiona's List for May 20 - 31

Your musical offerings include several fabulous piano concerts; an accordion orchestra; a handbell choir; organ recitals; one piano, four hands; and the Simon Carrington Chamber Singers.

Fiona's personal favorites for the next 12 days include Jiyun Chung's piano recital on Wednesday the 20th, Joo Hye Kim's piano recital on Thursday the 21st,  the One Piano, Four Hands concert with Ron Brown and Marian Thomas on Friday the 22nd, the debut concert of the Simon Carrington Chamber Singers on Saturday the 30th, Peter Serkin with the Kansas City Symphony on the 29th, 30th, and 31st, an organ recital by Jan Van Otterloo on Sunday the 31st  and the Westminster Concert Bell Choir on Sunday the 31st.

My two out-of-town picks are a piano recital presented by the International Institute for Young Musicians on Sunday the 24th in Lawrence, and a concert by The Simon Carrington Chamber Singers, conducted by Simon Carrington, on Saturday the 30th in Lawrence.

Another outstanding week of concerts is coming up in Topeka June 5th through 13th.  For information on the concerts, the music, and the participants of the 23rd annual Sunflower Music Festival, check out www.sunflowermusicfestival.org.

For something different, try one of the other "fiona favorites" found just below the theatre listings on fiona's list.  There's something for you for every night of the week.  Some of them are not available every week.  My recommendation this time is Marilyn Wood, pianist at Californos on Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays.

Fiona HIGHLY recommends another list of events for families, friends, educators, & neighbors of children 10 and under.  Miss Jackie's May list includes Jazz Storytelling, Marble Days, Read to a Dog, Truman's 125th birthday celebration, puppet shows, Asian Heritage Festival, 50 cent train rides, and more. To receive her monthly list, send an email to: missjackielists@gmail.com

Until next Wednesday morning,
Fiona
