Little tank, big fish
The Fishtank Performance Studio, the small, eclectic theater tucked away in the Crossroads neighborhood, continues to nurture artists and mount inventive productions this fall.
Co-founded by former KC Mastermind Award recipient Heidi Van, the Fishtank Performance Studio has become a valuable resource for unconventional performers, offering opportunities to experiment in a low-risk, low-cost environment. The Fishtank presents a number of ongoing series, ranging from The Rhiannon Birdsall Invitational, a citywide show-and-tell, to Martin Tanner Mondays, a showcase for local playwrights.

Philip blue owl Hooser Presents
Eat Their Words
Ironic toward the iconic, Eat Their Words returns to the Fishtank Performance Studio with a fresh new set of stale celebrity books to read from, and all for laughs. "It's like adult story time—and sometimes very adult," says series curator Philip blue owl Hooser. "Some very talented and funny performers gather to read from literary heavyweights like Suzanne Somers, Marilu Henner, and Keith Richards. We will also premiere a selection from a very special collective autobiography which is not just beyond belief—it is Beyonce belief."
