Venice is currently in development at the Public Theater/New York Shakespeare Festival, under Rosen's direction. The festival was originally conceived in 1954 by director/producer Joseph Papp.
Venice also was named “The Year’s Best Musical” by TIME magazine (May 2010) and was number two on the TIME “Top 10 Everything of 2010” list (theatre category).
Center Theatre Group of Los Angeles commissioned Rosen and Sax in 2007 to write another musical following the success of their critically acclaimed show Clay, which premiered in Los Angeles and had subsequent sold-out runs at Kansas City Rep and in New York, where it kicked off Lincoln Center Theater’s new programming initiative LCT3, devoted to producing the work of emerging playwrights, directors and designers.
The Ovation Awards for excellence in theatre were established in 1989 by the Los Angeles Stage Alliance to draw national attention to the quality of professional theatre in Los Angeles.
